If you’re like me, everyone in your house is over the age of 20. It means a better stocked liquor cabinet, but a notable disappearance of PopRocks and dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets from the pantry. Most importantly, no one is there to wake you up early Christmas Day. I must confess, that being the youngest, I was the one responsible for everyone’s early morning wake-up call, but who could sleep when there was a pile of presents waiting downstairs?! This year, when I knock on my brother’s and parent’s doors, it’ll be so that I can start their Christmas morning off with a cozy mug of hot cocoa or coffee.
To create a super creamy and frothy hot coca, I suggest preparing it in a milk frother. For those who need a jolt of caffeine in the morning, it can also be re-purposed to make a rich eggnog café au lait.
Serve the beverages in simple monogrammed mugs from Anthropologie, or in more festive gold-embossed ones from Williams-Sonoma:
Make everyone’s inner child smile by topping with adorable snowman marshmallows, or add some Christmas spirit with peppermint-flavored ones.

For my final and favorite touch, add a gingerbread house mug topper to provide inspiration for that afternoon’s family gingerbread house competition (I always win).
I’m more hopeful than realistic that I’ll wake up early enough to serve everyone their holiday beverages, but worse comes to worse, the mugs and the marshmallows would also make great stocking stuffers!
