A New York Minute

I don’t think there’s anything that can replace a classic analog watch as the perfect accessory, no matter how much technology advances. Watches make excellent graduation or anniversary gifts and have the added bonus of being able to be easily engraved; I myself gave this watch to my brother when he recently graduated with his MBA (and given that I’m only a student, it also counted as his birthday and Christmas present). Even better, watches can double as the ultimate fashion statement, especially when the strap is embellished with glitter like this Kate Spade Tiny Metro. Other than the sparkly strap, my favorite part of this watch is that it has a 20 mm face, which compared to more common watch face size of 34 mm, is perfectly sized for my small wrist. Kate Spade Tiny Metro

I’m not only wishing for a watch this Wednesday, but for more time in general. It’s fairly easy for me to not compare myself to other successful bloggers (see here) – they actually dedicate time and effort to posting and promoting themselves on social media. For the past year, I have done almost none of that. However, what I can do is remain true to the original vision and purpose of Favors and Festivities – that is to post about great gifts you can buy the people in your life or everything you can do to throw your best friend her dream Bachelorette brunch (a post is coming soon, I promise!). It’s so much easier for me to write a quick post about fashion then it is to spend hours researching party favors, things to do, and places to eat for a fun bachelorette post. Yet, my blog’s success rests on me actually putting to words all the pins or websites I tuck aside, knowing that by combining them to together they can make someone’s special gift or event amazing. So, I’m going to slightly amend my New Year’s Resolutions, in that even if I don’t blog as much, weekly I will publish a post that is true to the nature of this blog.

The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, because when you give your time you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back.

This is a great post – I love the Kate Spade brand and the watch you chose here is very cool! I bet your Brother was so delighted with the watch you got him, a watch is an excellent gift when it’s for something big like graduation. I wouldn’t worry about growing your blog (like how you have described here), as you mentioned, you are a student and that should be your number one priority, don’t get bogged down in the blog stuff, because then you run the risk of it becoming a task/chore, rather than an outlet for your own enjoyement and creativity. Focus on your studies and enjoy your blog, you have plenty of time to focus on your blog after you graduate and besides, from what I see here, your blog is doing great!
