Planning, Simplified

Emily Ley Simplified Planner 2

If you’re following me on Instagram, you would know that it was my Dad’s birthday this past week. I’m terrible with remembering birthdays, or most anything else,  so I write everything down in my planner. Literally, if you were to open it to any day of the week, you’d see a list of the classes I have that day, if I was planning to go to the gym, outfit inspiration, things to accomplish in lab, and what I plan on cooking for dinner.  Oh, and how could I forget – I also schedule what blog posts I plan on writing, even if I don’t actually get around to it (which most often than not ends up being the case).

I’m a huge fan of old-fashioned paper agendas for two reasons – when I assign my tasks for the week, 1) knowing when each thing will be finished prevents me from feeling overwhelmed and 2) motivates me to finish what I have assigned for that day. Having so much listed for each day makes having the right format for my planner super important and it took about a month of indecision before I finally committed to my Emily Ley Simplified Planner. I used a Lilly planner this past year, and although I loved all of the vibrant colors, the Simplified Planner’s checklist feature was a real draw. As I looked at a lot of planners, I was tempted by the cover designs of Whitney English’s Day Designer, but the Day Designer hourly format turned me off from purchasing one – I’m somewhat too distracted to actually know what I’ll be doing hour by hour, just day by day. Even though the start of the school year also means the return of the undergrads, I’m looking forward to filling up the pages of my Happy Stripe Simplified Planner with school assignments, basketball games, and trips to local Fall festivals.

Like I said, I spent a lot of time researching different planners. Here’s a few that I liked:

Which would you choose?
