In less than two weeks time, my favorite Brit will be turning 30!! To celebrate, my brother is planning an amazing birthday celebration in NYC, involving a show at Caroline’s comedy club, dinner at Carmine’s, and ending with a viewing of the tree. Personally I wonder if something amazing might happen, but given my terrible secret-keeping ability I’d probably be the last to know.
Every great event/occasion warrants a new outfit, or at least some wishful thinking of what I’d wear if my wallet would allow it. When I think of NYC, I think of two things: black and sparkly. Not one to decorate myself like the crystal ball on New Year’s Eve, I only wanted something that had a hint of sparkle. When I want clothes, Nordstrom is always my first (and typically only) stop. I know most of their items are expensive, but they also have a lot of designers that produce clothes that deviate somewhat from the trending style. For example, as pictured above, I love the Tildon sheer sequin tank, which is simplistic in it’s embroidery with just a touch of sparkle. As it’s sheer, pairing it with a long-line black lace bralette provides a semblance of modesty, and helps to make the outfit both sexy and sophisticated. Nonetheless, as this birthday celebration is a family affair, to avoid scandalizing my brother I’d cover myself with a thinly striped black and white blazer. Finally, although they’re not a necessary part of the outfit, I am in love with Frye boots, which would be perfect for a winter’s walk around the city.
